Annual Feng Shui Flying Stars for 2019, Year of the Earth Pig

Flying Stars change position on February 4th, Solar New Year and
the Year of the Earth Pig starts on February 5th, Lunar New Year. Review your home’s chart before then to harness the luck of the new year and position yourself for success instead of unexpected difficulties.

Here is my read of the energy of the year. According to Chinese Astrology, people born in a year of the Pig are charismatic, kind, artistic and easy going. They are very sociable, have strong humanitarian spirit and always try to bring peace and balance to a disputable situation. Because the Pig’s main element is Yang Water, people born under this sign are creative and diplomatic. They value good entertainment, good food and luxurious things. They can overindulge at times, but because they desire good things in life, they typically figure it out how to make money. So overall it looks like the year is very suitable for pursuing travels, creativity, lots of sociable and family activities and treating yourself with some luxurious things, if that’s what you desire. This is the last year of the 12 year cycle, so it is good to enjoy the fruits of your hard work and give yourself some time to rest and reflect. The next year 2020 is the year of the Rat and the beginning of the new cycle, so hard work and new beginnings will be more in line with the flow of the energy then.

However 2019 is the year of the Yin Earth Pig and a more in depth look reveals some hidden problems.

According to the Five Elements Cycle, Water and Earth are in a destructive relationship, so this will mean less harmony and more tension in the year.  Earth destroys Water and Water is a foundational element of the year therefore many affairs will have poor or unstable foundation this year.  There is a potential for some land-water related natural disasters such as flooding, tsunami and earthquakes. This year the existing political conflict will likely keep escalating as there is no solid foundation for peace and harmony. This will be reflected in political and social group’s conflicts and difficulty in coming to a resolution. With the awareness of this it would be a good practice to employ some extra diplomacy and patience with each other.

There is no Fire element in the yearly elemental composition which translates to less confidence and enthusiasm, emotions that typically drive stock markets, so they will be very volatile or not growing. The main element of the year is Water and Water relates to fear which is an attribute of a Bearish market.

The animal signs that are most compatible with the Pig are Rabbit, Goat and Tiger. These will have a more harmonious year. The animal signs that clash with the year are Pig itself and Snake. People who are born in years of Pig and Snake will be drawn to do some changes and big moves such as moving the house or office, changing jobs or traveling. These activities will be supported so go with the flow if something like this is in the works for you. However this is based only on the year of birth. To have a better understanding what the year might bring it is best to do your Four Pillars or Bazi astrology which is based on your year, month, date and time of birth so it is more personalized and precise.

The Flying Star this year will give some extra support for health and wellbeing of families as the most auspicious Prosperity Star #8 will occupy the center of a building. If the center of your home is an open space, not a closet, you will benefit the most, as this energy will be easily distributed throughout the house. In general the year will benefit men more than women. Women will have to take some extra care of their health and monitor their stress levels.

If you had your cures placed for 2018, remove them at the end of January or just a few days before February 4th. If they worked well for you then it’s likely that they absorbed some negative energy and should be discarded or recharged to remain effective. Read my previous blog on how to renew your cures. You can place new cures any time on or after February 4th.

Flying Star chart 2019

Flying Stars 2019

Auspicious Stars

Valley of Sunflowers by Richard Leblanc

8-The Most Auspicious Water Wealth Star is visitingthe centerthis year. This is very good news because center of a home or business represents the health and wellbeing of the household or company. Therefore this Wealth Star has a potential not only to bring wealth, new opportunities, success and happiness, but also support health, wellbeing and happiness.  The majority of newer homes have an open floor plan so there is no furniture in the center. If this is the case then you don’t need to do anything, but if you have a wall or piece of furniture close to the center you may want to add bright lights, crystals or gems.  Rose quartz would be my favorite in this area as it has elements of Fire and Earth. A picture of a beautiful landscape would work well too. The picture has to be more earthy than woody though.  If this is your kitchen, a red ceramic bowl with fruit would be very appropriate. You may also put a family picture and light a candle once in a while there if it suits you and the space. Plenty of options here. I strongly believe if we place a few meaningful things like these and combine it with our intention for the wellbeing and happiness for the family, this special energy will emanate throughout the house, neutralizing any negativity.

9-Future Prosperity Multiplying Star will reside in the NW. This Star relates to fame, happiness and future prosperity. NW relates to the father or patriarch of the family, also a breadwinner, male or female. It is a Fire Star so anything red is appropriate, but the element of the NW is Metal so do not over decorate this area with reds, introduce just very moderate amount of reds. You can place 9 coins there or any symbol of wealth that is meaningful to you. Creating a Wealth Altar and lighting a candle or offering incense there is a good practice as well.

1-Lucky White Star will be flying to the W. This Star relates to career, promotion and business success. It is a Wealth Water Star and energy of the W is Metal so it is in harmony with the direction, but I would not recommend placing too much Water there as it will diminish the Metal energy of the Bagua area of Creativity and Children. If you have other Water Wealth stars (not annual, but permanent) such as 8 or 6 then Water is fine there. If you don’t then place a faceted crystal in the window or do nothing. There is another visiting affliction in the W called Three Killings which is not so auspicious. Please see more on it below.

6-Favorable Heaven Star moves into the E. This star brings luck and good fortune, especially of a speculative kind, for example, investment luck. The nature of the E is Wood and this star is of a Metal nature. Metal cuts the beneficial Wood in the E so you don’t need to do much to activate 6 but if you’d like you can add Six Coins, hang a crystal in the window or place a peace of white quartz there.

4-Romance and Scholastic Star is in the North this year and also not in total harmony with this direction. This Star brings new romantic opportunities and luck to those pursuing studies. This is a Wood Star, Wood will support the Fire energy and the native element of the North is Water. So the best way to enhance your romance luck would be placing a meaningful object rather than a plant there. And if you need to get extra support for your kids’ studies you can add an object that represents achievements in education.

Afflictions Stars

Pachelbel's Canon Wind Chime

5-Yellow, the most malevolent Star visiting SW this year. This influence is associated with troubles, financial loss, illness, accidents and obstacles. SW relates to the mother of the family, or female in general and therefore may bring some difficulties for women, especially health related. This is why it would benefit women this year to take extra steps to support their health and consciously reduce the amount of stress because stress is the number one immune system suppressant.

It is a Yellow Earth Star, therefore the ill effects are neutralized with a strong Metal element. The best way to diminish this influence is to hang a large to medium size six-rod metal wind chime outside on the SW side of your property.  If SW is the direction your house is facing or, if your front door, kitchen or back door are in the SW, you may need some additional cures and balancing of the Five Elements. If your bedroom is in the SW and you have some health issues, it is advised to move into an alternative bedroom if at all possible. If your front door is in the SW and you have an alternative door then use that door more often.

Additional remedies include the Five Element Pagoda, Six Coins, Wu Lou, metal clocks or metal vases. You don’t need all of them but if you spend time in the SW room choose one or two that resonate with you the most. Remove Earth and Fire décor elements from the SW.  The Water element and a few plants are fine there.

It is advised to keep the area quiet and do not do any remodeling or construction or digging the earth in the SW to disturb the energy. Planting flowers is ok, but do not plant too many red or yellow flowers. Blues or whites are best in the SW this year.

2-Illness Star will occupythe NE sector of a building this year.

Th Medicine Buddha - Brass Statue

It is a Black Earth Star so Metal element is used to absorb its influence. Traditional remedies include Wu Lou, Six Coins or a medicine Buddha. You may use a metal vase or any metal statue of a deity of your spiritual tradition.Talismans and spiritual objects work best if you have a connection to them of some sort or some positive emotional response to them.Avoid using Fire and Earth elements in the area this year as they will strengthen this malevolent influence. It is advised to keep the NE quiet and do not do any remodeling or construction to disturb the energy. People often ask me if painting of the room is ok when there are annual afflictions stars visiting the room. Yes, it is fine to paint, unless the color you want to use there is on an intense side and in the range of reds or yellows.  If your bedroom is in the NE and you have some health issues, it is advised to move into an alternative bedroom if possible or remedy it well. If your front door or family room or kitchen is in the NE, you may need additional cures. Also NE is the youngest son’s or generally a yang male area of the Bagua, so if your son’s room happen to be in the NE place a metal wall clock or six coins in his room.

3-Argumentative Star flies to the S this year.

Boxwood Christmas Wreath 20" w/Red Berries Pinecone Natural Wood Handcrafted Fall Winter Festival Decorative Front Door Fireplace Wall Decoration Home Decor

It is a Green Wood Star and can bring arguments, stress, misunderstandings and legal problems. If your bedroom is in the S expect more arguments and tension. The Fire element is used to counteract this influence. Since the nature of the south is Fire it is good news, because this Star’s negative influence will be partially diminished. But if this is an important area such as your front door or room where you spend time you may need to use some additional balancing there. Placing a bright lamp or something red in the area, whichever is appropriate, will be beneficial. If you are currently having some litigation then you may need some additional cures and considerations.

NW Wholesaler - Lucky Bamboo Live Indoor House Plant in Glass Orb Terrarium Vase with Colored Glass Pebbles (Clear)

7-Loss Star moves to the SE.This Star brings tension, stress, and even robbery. It is a Metal Star, therefore it will diminish the Wood element of the SE.  Because the SE relates to Wealth it is not a very desirable scenario to have the Loss Star in the area as it may contribute to Wealth loss.  The Water element will minimize this influence. Using the color blue in the SE this year will help to minimize this influence as well. One of the traditional cures is a pair of rhinoceroses as they considered to be water animals and protectors. A very good cure this year in the SE is 3 bamboo stalks in a clear glass vase. Make sure it is healthy looking bamboo.

Additional Annual Afflictions (Shar Chi) and Renovation Rules

Three Killings is in the W (225°-315°)

Avoid sitting in your office facing E this year since your back will be exposed to this negative influence.  Three celestial guardians or one Pi Yao are used to suppress this affliction.

Grand Duke Jupiter (Tai Sui) is in the Northwest 3 (322.5°-337.5°).

Display a Tai Sui talisman in the room that is affected or carry it with you if you are born in the year of the Pig, Snake, Tiger and Monkey. It is recommended not to sit facing NW this year.

Both afflictions can bring legal problems, accidents and potential injuries and they are not to be taken lightly if your front door, office or bedroom are in those sectors. It is advised to avoid renovation or substantial construction in these areas.

Note: I am not teaching my annual Feng Shui Flying Star seminar at Circles of Wisdom this year but I am available for in person and remote consultations. For those who like to do it themselves hope this article provides some good guidelines.

My warmest wishes to you and your families and Happy New Year!

Annual Feng Shui Flying Stars for 2018, Year of the Earth Dog

The main element of the Dog is Yang Earth, and this also happens to be the year of the Yang Earth Dog, so the Earth element is doubly represented and very strong this year.  If Earth is your helpful element, you will thrive this year, but if it is not you may experience some difficulties. Too much Earth may result in tension, stagnation and obstacles. Watch out for weight gain and clutter accumulation as these are the signs of an unbalanced Earth influence! But if the Earth effect is timely and positive you will feel nourished. There will be clarity and things will feel manageable and under control. Being aware of your Four Pillars astrology will help you maximize positive outcomes and navigate any potential pitfalls.

If you had your cures placed for 2017, remove them just a few days before February 4th. If they worked well for you then they likely absorbed some negative energy and should be discarded or recharged to remain effective. Read my previous blog on how to renew your cures. You can place new cures any time on or after February 4th.

Flying Stars 2018

Auspicious Stars

8-The Most Auspicious Water Wealth Star moves to the SE this year.

This is extremely lucky since the SE is the direction of wealth and is in harmony with the Water element. Therefore this Star has the potential to bring exceptional wealth, new opportunities, success and happiness. It is especially lucky if the SE is your building’s facing direction or the location of your front or back door. Add crystals and bright lights to the area or even a water fountain to enhance and activate the energy.  If your family room or dining room is in the SE, spend more time there with people as it will help to activate the energy even more. On contrary, if your storage, garage or restroom is in the SE, the good energy is wasted there. If there is anything broken in the SE you must fix it and if there is any clutter you need to remove it. The energy flow should be unobstructed.  Your oldest daughter will benefit from this influence, especially if her bedroom is in the SE.

9-Future Prosperity Multiplying Star will reside in the center.

This Star relates to fame, future prosperity and joy. It is a Fire Star and it is in harmony with the Earth energy of the center. If you want to further enhance it, you can use anything red such as a rug, pillow, candle, bright light, art or a Nine Coins on a red string. But be careful and do not use too much red if you have Earth Flying Stars 5s and 2s in the center as they will clash and lead to tension.

1-Lucky White Star will be flying to the NW.

This Star relates to career and business success and promotion. It is a Wealth Water Star and the energy of the NW is Metal so their elements are in harmony. I would not recommend adding more Water to the NW as it will diminish Metal’s support for Helpful People and the male head of the family. Do nothing there or enhance the Metal element with crystals, coins and metal wind chimes.

6-Favorable Metal Heaven Star moves into the SW.

This Metal Star brings luck and good fortune, especially of a speculative kind, for example, investment luck. If your front or back door is in the SW you will benefit from this influence. The nature of the SW is Earth and this star is Metal so you don’t need to do much to activate it, but if you’d like you can add a Six Coins. I also recommend adding a white or rose quartz to strengthen the Earth element which supports the mother of the family, as the Metal Star 6 will slightly diminish her energy.

4-Romance and Scholastic Star is in the South and it is in harmony with this direction.

Wood will support the Fire energy of the South so you may see increased energy in your fame aspect. This Star brings new romantic opportunities and luck to those pursuing studies. It can bring networking opportunities and wealth, especially if your front door is in the S. It is a Wood Star so activate it with a green or flowering plant or a special symbol that reflects your pursuits.

Afflictions Stars

5-Yellow, the most malevolent Star visiting North this year.

This influence is associated with troubles, financial loss, illness, accidents and obstacles. It is a Yellow Earth Star, therefore the effects are neutralized using a strong Metal element. The best way to neutralize its influence is hanging a large six-rod metal wind chime outside on the northern side of your property.

If the North is your home’s facing direction or if your front door, kitchen or back door are in the north you may need some additional cures and a balance of the Five Elements. If your bedroom is in the North and you have some health issues, move into a different bedroom, if at all possible. If your front door is in the North, use an alternate entrance more often if you have one.

Traditional remedies include the Five Element Pagoda, Six Coins, and Wu Lou but you can also use any metal decor such as clocks and vases. If you spend time in northern room, choose one or two that resonate with you the most. Remove Earth and Fire décor elements from the North. Wood and Water elements, on the other hand, are fine there.

It is also recommended to keep the area quiet and avoid remodeling, construction and any major digging that disturbs the earth. Planting flowers is okay, but do not plant red or yellow flowers. Stick to blues and whites in the North this year.

2-Illness Star will reside in the Western sector this year.

It is a Black Earth Star so the Metal element is used to absorb and neutralize this influence. A Wu Lou, Six Coins or medicine Buddha are the traditional remedies. You may also use a metal object from your spiritual tradition. A talisman works best if you have a connection to it. Avoid using Fire and Earth elements in the West this year, as they will reinforce this malevolent influence. Try to keep the area quiet and do not do any major remodeling or construction to disturb the energy. Small projects like painting are fine. If your bedroom is in the W and you have some health issues, it is advised to move into an alternative bedroom or remedy it well if this is not possible. The West is the children’s area of the Bagua, so if your front door or family room is in the West, you may need additional cures.

3-Argumentative Star flies to the NE this year.

It is a Green Wood Star and can bring arguments, misunderstandings and legal problems. The Fire element is used to neutralize this influence. Since Fire is not very compatible with the NE, do not overuse it as it may bring disharmony. A piece of red paper or a red candle will be sufficient. Metal is also beneficial in neutralizing Wood. If you are in a vulnerable position and facing litigation you may need some additional cures and considerations. If your oldest son occupies the NE room then he might need some additional support this year.

7-Violent Star moves to the East.

This Star brings tension, stress, and even robbery. It is a Metal Star that diminishes the Wood element of the East. Since the East relates to family we may expect some increased tension and stress in the home. The Water element will minimize this influence so using blues in the East this year will help with family harmony. One of the traditional cures is a pair of rhinoceroses as they are water animals and protectors.

Additional Annual Afflictions (Shar Chi) and Renovation Rules

Three Killings is in the North (315°-45°).

It is not recommended to sit with your back to the North. Three celestial guardians are used to suppress this affliction.

Grand Duke Jupiter (Tai Sui) is in the Northwest (292.5°-307.5°).

Display a Tai Sui talisman in the room that is affected or carry it with you if you are born in the year of the Dog, Dragon, Ox and Sheep. It is not recommended to sit facing NW this year.

Both afflictions can bring legal problems, accidents and potential injuries so they are not to be taken lightly if your front door, office or bedroom are in those sectors. It is advised to avoid renovation or substantial construction in these areas.

Three Secrets for Dealing with Clutter

My client Kathy runs a very successful business that requires a lot of her time, so over the past few years she has not been able to keep up with the clutter at her home. Things just kept accumulating and it became quite an issue.  Clutter is a problem that to some extend all of us have to deal with these days!  Everyone has some amount of it, and while many learn to manage, for some it becomes a huge obstacle. This article was inspired to help Kathy and many others who are ready to do a round of decluttering.

My personal experience of moving frequently in my younger years, changing cities and countries, had taught me how to leave things behind.  But after settling down in my current home of 17 years, random stuff inevitably started piling up. It took some years of observing myself and others to fully understand the effects of clutter on our well being. I am not a clutter consultant but seeing so much of its negative impact in my feng shui practice has taught me a great deal about it and how to deal with it.

During our session, my clients get the necessary insights, a plan, and the motivation and energy to start decluttering.  After clearing out a few areas, energy starts to flow and it becomes easier to continue the process.  Once the space is reclaimed, we conclude by implementing feng shui recommendations to complete the transformation!  But sometimes more help is needed, so for some it is a good idea to work with personal organizer until things are under control.

My most significant personal experience with clutter happened during my last major remodeling round when everything had to be moved out of the second floor.  I’ve always thought of myself as a person who keeps clutter to a minimum so I was surprised by how much stuff had accumulated in my closets over the years.  There were things that I didn’t even know I still had because they were behind other things!  Among them were art purchases that didn’t work out, tons of my own photos and framing experiments, accessories that had since been replaced, lamps, pillows, and some random little things that had lost their meaning.  It was pretty obvious that I don’t need most of this, and I realized that this had actually been weighing on my subconscious for some time. There was a feeling of tension, irritation, disharmony, heaviness and even guilt that I could now attribute to the clutter.  So three quarters of this stuff never made its way back upstairs!

I have to admit that it wasn’t too easy getting rid of all of this, but I was ruthless and kept going.  Let me tell you, it felt really good at the end!  Actually, it felt incredible!  I loved the feeling of spaciousness in my closets and rearranged them in a way that made it possible to see everything.  I felt light, joyful and even younger.  And I felt in control because I knew what I had and where to find it.  Since then, I’ve developed the habit of going through my closets and drawers two or three times a year.  Now, I even crave the feeling of lightness that I get after a good round of decluttering and it doesn’t take much time at all.

Here are three guidelines that I’ve created for myself over the years. I hope they would be useful for you too:

Things in your home influence you.  Ask yourself how you want to feel and surround yourself with things that reflect and represent that.  Most of us want love, inspiration, joy, relaxation, prosperity, creativity, clarity, organization, harmony… you got the idea.  Let’s call it a certain sense of well being.  Whatever doesn’t represent that is clutter!

We change.  Our tastes develop and our goals shift as time goes by.  Look at your furniture, accessories and clothing and ask yourself: “Is this me or not me?  Does it reflect who I am today or who I want to be tomorrow?” Whatever doesn’t, is clutter!

Your home and the things in it are an extension of you.  So honor yourself by surrounding yourself with things you deserve, want and and love.  Everything else is clutter!

My work is based on the very simple principle that we are intimately connected with our environment and all the things in it, emotionally and energetically.  So we can shape how we feel by surrounding ourselves with things that represent how we want to feel.

Annual Feng Shui Flying Stars and predictions for 2017, Year of the Fire Rooster

Annual Feng Shui Flying Stars and predictions for 2017, Year of the Fire Rooster

The Rooster is flamboyant, energetic and intelligent. It can be self-centered, confident and volatile. The elemental composition of the year is Yin Fire (Heavenly Stem) on top of Yin Metal (Earthy Branch). This represents an elemental clash (Fire destroys Metal), suggesting tension, stress and conflict. In this regard, 2017 is similar to 2016, the year of the Fire Monkey and my predictions for last year proved to be pretty accurate. The difference is that this year’s forces are Yin while last year’s forces were Yang which are more open, enthusiastic and straight forward. Yin forces have a tendency to accumulate and then erupt under the right circumstances. So this year can be more eruptive and violent than last year.  More political tensions, international conflicts, terrorist attacks, explosions and fire disasters can be expected.

There is always a positive side as well. The Fire element brings hope, warmth and excitement. Nobody can expect stability under two clashing elements, but investors are more enthusiastic in Fire years so stock markets tend to do better. Last year was a good example of this volatility and growth. But beware with your investments towards the end of the year! As the Fire element diminishes its influence in the fall market downturns can be expected.

I am not posting this info just for entertainment. If we meet difficulties with awareness and caution, the outcome can be much better. The best way to deal with tension in political and economic arenas is to match it with maturity, wisdom and calmness. One side of the Fire element is aggression and violence but the other side is warmth and love. So let us channel the Fire element of the year to bring care and kindness to our families and communities in these challenging times!

In traditional Chinese medicine, Fire is associated with the heart and blood circulation.  Metal is related to lungs, skin and the immune system. People with weaknesses in these areas should pay more attention to their health, eat well, exercise, de-stress and take additional supplements to strengthen the heart and immune system. This is especially important for people with weak Fire and weak Metal elements. The sickness influence (Flying Stars#2 and #5) are occupying NW and S this year so if your front door or bedroom are in these areas you should put more effort into your health.

People born in the year of the Rooster or Rabbit may have a difficult year and may benefit from carrying a protective talisman this year.  However, predictions based only on the year of birth are not very reliable. It is always advisable to do a full Four Pillars of destiny chart to understand how to benefit from the energy of the year.

Flying Stars change their position on February 4th so it is advised to review your house’s chart before this date to harness the new year’s luck and make sure you are not positioned for unexpected difficulties.

If you had your cures placed for 2016, remove them just a few days before February 4th. If they worked well for you then it’s likely that they absorbed some negative energy and should be discarded or recharged to remain effective. You can place new cures any time on or after February 4th.

Flying Stars 2017

Afflictions Stars

5-Yellow, the most malevolent Star is in the south this year. It is associated with financial loss, illness, accidents and obstacles.

It is an Earth Star, therefore the effects are neutralized with a strong Metal element. The best way to neutralize this influence is to hang a large to medium sized six-rod wind chime outside on the southern side of your property.

If south is your house’s facing direction, or, if your front door, kitchen or back door are in the south, you may need some additional cures or elemental balancing. If your bedroom is in the south and you have some health issues, it is advised to move into an alternate bedroom if at all possible. If your front door is in the south and you have an alternate door, use that door more often.

Additional remedies include the Five Element Pagoda, Six Coins, Wu Lou, metal clocks, metal vases or other metal décor. You don’t need all of them.  Depending how vulnerable your situation is, choose one or two that resonate with you most.

Remove Earth or Fire elements from the south sector of your house or office because these elements will strengthen the 5-Yellow Star. The Wood element is very good there. It is advised to keep the area quiet avoid any remodeling or construction that might disturb the energy.

2-Illness Star will occupy the northwestern sector of a building this year.

It is a Black Earth Star and Metal is used to absorb and neutralize this influence. Traditional remedies include the Wu Lou, Six Coins or a medicine Buddha. You may use any metal statue of a deity of your spiritual tradition. Talismans work best if it’s something that you have a personal connection to. Avoid using Fire and Earth elements in the area as they will strengthen this Star. It is advised to keep the area avoid remodeling or construction.  If your bedroom is in the NW and you have some health issues, it is advised to move into an alternate bedroom if possible. The NW relates to the father of the family so men or breadwinners are more affected.

3-Argumentative Star flies to the west.

It is a Green Wood Star and can bring arguments, misunderstandings and legal problems. Fire element is used to neutralize this influence. Since west is a Metal Bagua, sector you need to avoid introducing excessive Fire there which can bring disharmony. My advice is to use Fire in moderation in the west. A piece of red paper, a red envelope or a red candle will do.

7-Violent Star moves to the southwest. This Star brings tension, stress, and even robbery. It is a Metal Star so the Water element will diminish its influence. If it falls on your front or back door you may consider using a remedy. If falls into your bedroom you can expect more arguments. Women will be affected more than men. One of the traditional cures is a pair of rhinoceroses as they are considered to be water animals and protectors.

Auspicious Stars

8-Auspicious Wealth Star resides in the east. This Star brings wealth, opportunities, success, and happiness. It is especially lucky if east of your building’s facing direction or your front or even back door is in the east. This star will activate opportunities and luck. If you want to strengthen your luck further, add crystals and bright lights to the area. If it is the location of your living room or dining room, spend more time there and having gatherings will activate the energy even more. The best enhancer for this auspicious influence is the Water element. If you want to make a big change, I advise placing a water feature in the East.

9-Future Prosperity Star
flies to the southeast. This star relates to fame, future prosperity and joy. It is a Fire Star. If you want to enhance it you can place a healthy plant or a Nine Coins on a red string and add some reds and bright lights. Using the area also helps to activate this positive influence.

1-Lucky White Star will be residing in the center. This Star relates to career, business success and promotion. It is a Wealth Water Star and the energy of the center relates to the Earth element so in most cases you don’t need to do anything.

6-Favorable Heaven Star moves into the north. This star brings luck and good fortune, especially of a speculative kind. If your front or back door is in the north you will benefit from this influence. Activate it with Six Coins, crystals or metal decor.

4-Romance and Scholastic Star is in the northeast. This star brings new romantic opportunities and luck to those pursuing studies. It can bring networking opportunities and wealth. It is a Wood Star so placing a plant or a special symbol that reflects your pursuits will help activate those aspects.

Additional Annual Afflictions (Shar Chi) and Renovation Rules

Three Killings is in the east (45°-135°).

It is not recommended to sit with your back to the East. Three celestial guardians are used to suppress this affliction.

Grand Duke Jupiter (Tai Sui) is in the west (262.5°-278.5°).

Display a Tai Sui talisman in the room that is affected or carry it with you if you are born in the year of the Rooster, Rabbit, Rat or Horse. It is not recommended to sit facing West this year.

Both afflictions can bring legal problems, accidents and potential injuries so they are not to be taken lightly, especially if your front door, office or bedroom are in those sectors. It is advised to avoid renovation or substantial construction in these areas.

For those who are interested in learning more about these annual influences with the opportunity to ask questions, I am offering a webinar. The format will be similar to the workshop I teach every year in January at Circles of Wisdom. This year you can join me from a comfort of your home.
